Austin in winter time is wet, and mildly cool. Like early autumn in Europe. The location is Spiderhouse cafe, a quintessentially Austin place. Insert Mars and Andrew, a couple that I consider quintessentially Austin. For example, they showed up with a top hat, and vintage cameras.

He said, “Why do I love her? She puts up with my eccentricities.”
She replied, “I love his eccentricities!”

They laugh and kiss each other in the very relaxed and comfortable way that couples have, and it was a piece of cake capturing their comfort and affection for each other on camera.

I shot this wedding for the fabulous Amy Kate Photography.

The groom was a lot of fun to follow, at one point he saw a moped near 6th street, and immediately got on it for a photo-op. I love how chill a lot of men are on their wedding day. The groom and his groomsmen first started off at the Stephen F Austin, and then meandered down to the Driskill and downtown area. Finally after some teasing from the groomsmen, the groom finally directed us to St Mary’s for the ceremony.

Here are a handful of my favorite images from the wedding.

Bradi Wells - Ah, love these brilliant little touches. The details here really seem to tell the story themselves… Gosh, I miss that city!

So for Thanksgiving, we got the awesome opportunity to travel to the Big Island. It blew my mind in so many ways. The beach was a joy to swim in, with waters so clear during the afternoon that scuba diving was a paradise of color. We also got to walk over weeks old lava in the moonlight and watch lava spewing into the ocean to create new earth. The valleys were so spectacular it looks like you’re peering into Jurassic park.

I remember feeling all my anxiety melt away as I wade into the ocean, surrounded by crystal blue waters. When the sun started to set, and I was the only person in sight, I felt so content and grateful.

Here are my husband and me, lolling around in the sand and pleasant waters of the Pacific.

I had the pleasure of second shooting this beautiful Texas couple for Vanity Photography.

The wedding day started with me not knowing anything about the couple, and it ended with me knowing how well loved they are. Throughout the toasts, speeches and hugs, you could feel the love emanating from everyone towards this couple. Iโ€™m glad I was there for their special day.

The bride chose a lovely Alfred Angelo dress. The ceremony was in a beautiful church in downtown Austin, followed by a reception in the nearby Doubletree Hotel. We also took a little detour to the Texas Capitol for some photographs.

I can still see the day in my mind. The weather was perfect just as the Texas summer turn into autumn. The gorgeous light streaming through the trees. The rows of vineyards, and purple flowers everywhere. This is Keith and Leslie’s wedding day and I was honored to be their wedding photographer.

ps: yes, that’s a brain cake ๐Ÿ™‚ They’re both neurobiologists with UT Austin.
