I love veils and hairpieces, whether they are quirky birdcage veils, or the long ones that flow down to the feet. Destiny’s veil kept flying in the wind and dancing on its own, during the ceremony and also during the portrait session.

Destiny and Lars married each other in Villa Antonia. It was a bright, sunny and windy day. And it was perfect. The hillside and the Italian villa made for a breathtaking backdrop to their ceremony. Here are a handful of my favorites.

There were so many perfect things about the wedding.
The light! Oh, the light! I ask my brides, if possible, to do their portraits around sunset, and this couple did a first look, which gave us plenty of time do bride and groom portraits. It was a perfect Texas sunset. I love Kasey and Kevin and their fun wedding at Winfield Inn. Her colors were Tardis blue (a geeky Doctor Who reference). During her first look, she brought along her little Tardis, which made “Woosh! Woosh!” spaceship noises when you lift the lid. As she got close to Kevin, she lifted the lid, and he burst out laughing at the unexpected wooshing noise. Then he turned around to see her for the first time. The moment was full of laughter and happy tears, and it really reminded me how blessed I am to be a wedding photographer.

According to the 8 year old boys that attended this wedding, “It was the best wedding ever!!!” And how could it not be for them? The venue was Camp Stewart for Boys, and it was a giant playground. The headwaters of the Guadalupe river flows through it, and they have water slides, a blob, canoes, tennis, and lots of games. The bride, Cara, wanted a summer camp wedding, and despite the crazy amount of logistics that went into it, made it happen.

I was honored to be part of this lovely wedding set in Burnet, Texas. It was just as the weather had turned from summer to a more balmy fall, and it was beautiful. Their family built a barn for their wedding venue and it was gorgeous.
