sunset yoga at mayfield park

We spent some time chasing the peacocks at Mayfield Park, hoping that they would spread their glorious tail feathers and be the backdrop for Tim’s warrior pose, but they were shy that day. The summer evening was warm, and there were mosquitos out in full force, but that didn’t stop Tim from attacking his yoga poses with strength and vigor. It was a joy photographing him.

At the greenbelt – austin photography

The greenbelt in Austin is so beautiful. Even in the harsh heat of summer, if you go there and sit on the mossy rocks, with your body half under the running water, and wiggle your toes, it feels really really nice. I had the pleasure of photographing Kacey Samiee, who was up for doing a water shoot. We played around in the water for some pictures, while I made sure not to slip completely into the water with my camera. Kacey was like a water sprite, and looked amazing. I wonder if some brides would be willing to do a boudoir shoot like this in the water.

Cathy & Josh, Richmond, VA

I got to attend a good friend’s wedding in Richmond, VA, as a guest, last weekend. It was set at the Wilton House Museum, a gorgeous Georgian-style plantation house, overlooking the James River. It rained just before the ceremony, and then cleared up, giving us a nice cool evening for the reception.

Cathy and Josh are very fond of their Ugly dolls, all of whom were in attendance. They even had a place of honor on the groom’s cake!

There was renaissance dancing, including a galliard, which made the geek in me very happy.

Steiner Ranch Wedding

I shot a short and sweet wedding last Sunday for an older couple. They were very calm and chill about the whole process, and yet were clearly enjoying themselves. It was definitely less frantic then a lot of weddings I’ve been to. The food at Steiner Ranch Steakhouse was delicious, and there was a dessert bar. In my opinion, wedding cakes are the one of the best parts of shooting a wedding! Here’s a sneak peak to some of their pictures.

TARDIS cardbox and a ring shot

I just recently got married, and we didn’t get a picture of our wedding rings from our photographer (which isn’t a big deal since many photographers don’t do ring shots. If they’re important to you, make sure to request one!)

And recently I bought a miniature ceramic house at an Austin art festival, so I posed the rings in front of it. I like the concept of a home, because a lot of times, my husband’s arms feel like home.

Also, since I’m very geeky and a big Dr Who fan, my husband made a felt and cardboard TARDIS to be used as our wedding cardbox. It can hold more wedding cards then you think, since it’s bigger on the inside!
